In assembly today, we thought about Armistice Day and why the poppy is a special symbol. Mr Shimmins, our local MHK, presented every pupil in our school with a special 50p coin featuring red poppies and an image of a First World War soldier from the Douglas War memorial. The coins were specially commissioned by the Treasury to mark the centenary of Armistice Day at the end of the First World War.
