Show Respect ~ Learn Together ~ Try Your Best
As you may be aware, the British National Cycling Championships are being held over the next few days right here in the Isle of Man.
When Braddan School was invited to enter a team in the schools event, there was great excitement, not least because Mark Cavendish was the guest of honour!
We chose a team of 4 cyclists, all of whom are experienced at cycle racing and have a genuine enthusiasm for the sport. They really did themselves proud by winning their first heat, then doing their very best in the subsequent races to finish 10th overall out of the 16 teams that took part.
The sun came out during the afternoon and there was a fantastic atmosphere in St Johns. Mark Cavendish was there to start each heat and to provide some expert tips to the competitors, as well as agreeing to sign autographs at the end. The children got such a buzz from meeting one of their cycling heroes – perhaps one of the children taking part today will become a cycling hero too!
